Impactful Gala Video Hit All the Right Notes for Music Program Support

Emotive storytelling spotlights ensemble life and drives donor connection

In preparation for their annual gala on April 2nd, the Harmony Program, a NY-based non-profit that helps children gain critical life skills and make meaningful peer connections through collective music-making, wanted to highlight their work in a way that would strike a chord with every attendee. And they knew shyft was the partner to make that happen.

The goal was to create a video that highlighted the power of ensemble music education across New York City’s five boroughs by putting the students in the spotlight. shyft knew the best way to capture the impact of the program was hearing firsthand experiences from the children within it! With a focus on emotional and social development, the video captures how Harmony’s ensembles provide not just musical training, but a strong sense of purpose, belonging, and community for young students. The video was to debut at the Harmony Program’s April 2 Gala.

Undoubtedly one of our favorite projects yet, shyft spent time meeting with students to film their interviews and capture their rehearsals and concert performance live.

The footage was then thoughtfully and strategically crafted to resonate with donors, supporters, and strategic partners, serving as a cornerstone of the organization’s fundraising and outreach efforts.

To do that, we made sure the conversations and storyline focused on the idea that ensembles are where kids learn to collaborate, connect, and grow together. Whether they’re just starting out or honing their skills, every child has a place in the Harmony Program — and every note played builds confidence, joy, and opportunity. Which was so clear in every interview. The students were all so proud to share their talents and love of the program that gives them all the opportunity to see them through to their fullest potential.

Following its Gala premiere, the video will live on through the Harmony Program’s website and social platforms, continuing to inspire audiences and build support for its mission.
